ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 26 (UPI) -- A Florida plane crash
killed a man and critically injured another, and a dog that had been
with them was found walking around the crash site, authorities said.
Carrie Eleazer of the Polk County sheriff's office the
plane, a Beech Sundowner 23, went down Thursday shortly after
takeoff from Winter Haven Airort, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel
reported.
Two Polk County deputies spotted the wreckage while on
routine patrol just east of Auburndale.
The pilot, James Trefz, 45, was killed and his passenger,
George Azize, 47, was critically injured and taken to Lakeland
Regional Medical Center. the newspaper reported.
Trefz's dog Zulu, a mixed-terrier, was found walking around
the crash site about an hour and a half after the plane went down,
the Sentinel said.
Authorities said the plane had been headed to Lakeland
Linder Regional Airport.
