Gore's film foray lauded for accuracy
WASHINGTON
. America's top climate scientists are giving five stars for accuracy to An
Inconvenient Truth, Al Gore's documentary on global warming.
The former vice-president's movie mostly got the science right, said all
19 climate scientists who had seen the movie or read the book and answered
questions from The Associated Press.
It tells of the prospect of a flooded New York City, an inundated
Florida, more and nastier hurricanes, worsening droughts, retreating
glaciers and disappearing ice sheets.
AP contacted more than 100 top climate researchers by e-mail and phone
for their opinion. Among those contacted were vocal skeptics of climate
change theory. Those who have seen it had the same impression. Gore conveyed
the science correctly - the world is getting hotter and it is a manmade
catastrophe-in-the-making, caused by the burning of fossil fuels.

My my, Mick. . .you really are getting this troll thing down. Tell me,
do you aspire to the trolly lofts of Min? Do you remember when you
first hit this group and your first three or so posts were attempts to
be a real contributor? I do. What happened to you? At least a troll's
troll that used to be here - Shawn Grant - gave us an explanation about
what motivated him to start trolling before he left. But you don't have
to give us an explanation. Just leave.

earth's atmosphere has been doing for the last 420K years in order here.
Maybe looking at what it says about the last 150 years and comparing it to
the the previous thousands of years would be instructive. Perhaps its just
an inconvenient fact that during that period the Industrial Age took hold?

Allow me first to introduce some of you to The National Academy of
Sciences.
For those unaware of its origins and history, please see:
http://www.nasonline.org/site/PageServer?pagename=ABOUT_main_page
After that you may wish to read the following:
http://www8.nationalacademies.org/onpinews/newsitem.aspx?RecordID=11676
I know there are several eminent scholars with serious credentials and
unimpeachable climate models participating in this thread, but I
thought the conclusions reached by a highly regarded, and apolitical
science academy may be worthy of introduction.
Undoubtedly some will view this report with a gimlet eye, but it
certainly trumps all of the largely idiotic commentary and maniacal
ravings from those who can only view this issue as a political pawn on
a chessboard.
BTW, for the record, I'm not interested in the opinions of anyone here
on this topic. That's shorthand for save your bandwidth, I'm dumping
this thread.

Hmmm, the main body of this thread seems to have wandered off. Maybe reading
Michael Shermer's Skeptic column, "The Political Brain", in the latest issue
of Sci Am magazine might loosen the discussion up.
