I love _Cartes_ and am especially happy the Linux version is coming
along ... but on this laptop it is actually pretty slow. Maybe I just
need to tune down some rendering preferences or other, but ...

So does _anybody_ run the Chandler program any more? As I said I'm
kinda intrigued by it, but it's hard to tell whether support (let
alone updates) will be forthcoming ...

XEPHEM should run well. KSTARS will run with a Thinkpad 240, 600 and
T20 but you must stop automatic updating which eats up cycles.

Both are free, but if you want full xephem you have to pay for it.

Skyglobe, runs in less than 1 Meg! A GREAT Program, even for today!
