Bush was first elected because 'simpletons' the dems were counting on
to vote faithfully, couldn't figure out a Democrat-designed ballot that
even 2nd graders later used perfectly in a TV news replay. And after
simpletons in the national news media declared Florida for Gore before
all the polls had closed, later claiming they just 'forgot' that the western
part of the state was on CST -- even after the same newspeople had
discussed that very issue in their 1996 coverage. It's always a delight
seeing people accusing others of lack of intelligence, being themselves
so stupid.

You know Jim, when you're not "dem"-bashing, you're a delight to read.
When you are, you sound distressingly like Rand. :-/
That being said, the single biggest mistake the Democrats made in 2000
was taking Gore's home state for granted. Had he carried Tennessee,
the whole debacle in Florida would just have been an absurd sidelight.
That he DIDN'T carry Tennessee is reflective of a great many problems
within the Gore campaign and the DNC as a whole.

So the state that knew him best... didn't support him, and you still
wanted him to be President?

In the face of the alternative at the time, yes. In retrospect, HELL
yes.

Regardless of the cluelessness of that post, Brian's comment should
still give you (and your party) pause.
